Cozy Christmas Home Tour

Our cozy Christmas home tour featuring a non-traditional  colour scheme and holiday decor in white, cream, gold, brass, and wood.

Wow, I can hardly believe it’s Christmas home tour time, again! I’m thrilled to be sharing our cozy Christmas home tour. I have to confess I’ve not been loving the feel of our living/dining room space the last few months. But recently I painted, added some new drapes, and put up a mural. I also rearranged all the furniture and, combined with the decor changes, it gave the space a completely different feel. I love it so much more, and it feels doubly cozy now with our neutral holiday decor touches.

Today I’ve joined some of my blogging friends who are also sharing their homes decorated for the holidays. Be sure to visit their Christmas Home Tours by visiting the links I’ve shared at the bottom of today’s post.

I’m starting off the tour today, but make sure to head on to Jen, at Rambling Renovators, next on today’s house hop! Her holiday home is beautiful. Welcoming and elegant, cozy yet refined: Traditional and Classic Christmas Tour at Rambling Renovators.

Cozy Christmas Home Tour 2022

I shared our neutral Christmas tree decor ideas last week and it felt really good to get back to blogging after a long stretch off. While I usually share a TON of holiday content, I had to take a step back this fall for a variety of reasons. I shared these in my Christmas tree decor post last week.

A new approach

This year, I took a really different approach. I cut buck immensely on the amount of “Christmas” I added to our home! Instead of feeling like I had to use everything I owned, I instead focused on unity and harmony. I tried to create a simpler, more cohesive look that flows naturally throughout our home. Using only my favourite things plus a few new finds, I stayed pretty neutral with our decor. These white, cream, gold, brass and wood Christmas decorations complement our existing textiles and colours instead of competing with them.

Changes to this space

The green curtains are a new addition, and I love them! Green velvet, from Amazon, and super affordable. Find them here. I was inspired to change them to balance out all the colour I added to the other end of the room with the new mural in our dining room. I’ll be sharing the dining room tomorrow, along with our front porch and pops of holiday decor in the foyer and Christmas.

Did you notice the new paint colour on the walls? It’s not longer the bright white we painted it before we moved in. I’ll be sharing more details about the why; but the walls are now painted with Benjamin Moore’s Halo. It’s an airy green-greige that gives our space a completely different feel!

I also decorated just one tree, and changed the placement of it, along with the placement of our furniture in the dining rom. It was fun to rearrange our furnishings this year, and I like how much more open it feels between the living room and dining room now.

Non-traditional Christmas Colour Scheme

Green is the theme in our space, with the majority of the actual Christmas decor being white, cream, gold, brass, or wood. I love the cozy feel that these neutrals add to our home, and they blend well with my non-traditional green and clay colour scheme.

Our Cozy Neutral Christmas Tree Decor

You can see and read more details about our cozy neutral Christmas tree decor in this article.

The tree is definitely the focal point of this whole space, as it sits right between the dining room and living room areas of our great room. I decorated it first, and then brought in the rest of our decor pieces based on whether they flowed well with our tree. It all feels so much more cohesive than it has in past years. This makes us feel cozy and peaceful to spend our long winter evenings in here.

I’ll be back tomorrow to share our dining room area, as well as pops of holiday decor touches in our kitchen, foyer, and on the front porch.

I hope you found some inspiration to tweak your home this holiday season so you that it creates the perfect backdrop for making awesome holiday memories with your friends and family!
