Yarn Snowball Christmas Wreath and Nine Other Awesome Wreath Ideas
This adorable holiday wreath is easily made with balls of yarn!
December is nearly upon us and it is definitely time for me to start thinking about freshening up our front porch and especially our front door with a Christmas wreath. Have you started yours yet? If not, then today is perfect for you- I have teamed up with 9 other bloggers to provide you with all kinds of amazing inspiration for your holiday door décor this season.
Today I am sharing how I created a Yarn Snowball Wreath with a Pom Pom Trim. Once I got going on this is was a lot faster then I had imagined it would be and was really quite easy. It turned out just as I had hoped and I love the crisp look of the red and white together – the perfect addition to the old window frame in our living room for the holiday season.
To make this wreath you will need:
- various sizes of foam craft balls
- yarn (I chose to go with all white but you could definitely use a variety of colors)
- a glue gun and hot glue sticks
- a base for your wreath (I used a flat floral wreath base but you could probably even make one using foam board)
- Optional: pom pom trim (I bought mine at my local Fabricland)
Start by wrapping your foam craft balls with the yarn, using a little bit of glue at the beginning and the end to adhere the yarn to the ball.
Then just start wrapping your yarn around and around, turning the ball and holding the yarn down as you need to until it wraps upon itself again…
Once the yarn is covering all the Styrofoam, use a dab of hot glue to attach the end of the yarn onto the ball.
Next, if your wreath form isn’t already white then paint it to blend in with your yarn snowballs.
Once you have wrapped all of your foam balls, secure them together and onto the wreath form using lots of hot glue. Lastly, add any embellishments you want (like the pom pom trim) by securing it with some hot glue as well.
Done!
I love how much texture it has from up-close…
I made this holiday wreath to dress up the Living Room gallery wall with a little festive spirit…
Now I really can’t wait to get the rest of our Christmas décor out!!

Hi Tricia- yes, last Christmas, using my easy tutorial for envelope pillows. The fabric is Lipstick/White Suzani and Chevron – called Zig Zag both by Premier Prints- super inexpensive when ordered from Fabric.com – I even backed them in cheaper white fabric to save on my ‘good’ fabric. I have an easy tutorial for one piece envelope pillows as well- they literally take minutes to make (and I am not a talented seamstress:).
