Free Courage Printables and The Be Bold Challenge

I am sharing my free courage downloadable printable with you!Life Shrinks or Expands in Proportion to One's Courage free printable at The Happy Housie

When designing a space or doing a DIY project do you sometimes ‘chicken out’ and take the safe route rather than following through with your original vision?

Maybe that idea you had becomes a little scary once you see the paint color in the can and you think…. “uh, maybe I should just stick with white”? Or you put back those stunning patterned drapes and opt for safe neutral stripes because “they might be a little too much”.

Or do you put off completing DIY projects because you think that they might not work out or you might mess it up somehow?

Well, sometimes playing it safe works.

And sometimes it leads to disappointment and buyer’s remorse (or DIY-er’s remorse – even worse)…

I think that this fear of making a mistake or failing is something we all struggle with in the DIY world. So this winter a group of bloggers is getting together to challenge themselves and challenge you to BE BOLD!

Be bold challenge with border.

I am thrilled to take part in this amazing challenge organized by Carrie of Lovely etc. She puts it best in her own words:  “I was sick and tired of not trying new projects just because I was scared of failure. This year, my goal is to learn to fail. To learn that it is really okay to try for something awesome and end up with something awful. To let go of outcome. It is easy to make sure you never, ever fail at anything. But when you do that, you miss out on pretty much everything great. I’m done with mediocre. I’m ready for lots of awesome.”

I'm done with mediocre I'm ready for awesome printable The Happy Housie

We think a bit more daring and risk-taking is good for everyone and that is why the Be Bold Challenge began.

The challenge is to do a DIY project that is a bit of a risk. Perhaps using a new power tool, trying a color you usually avoid, doing something you’ve never seen anyone else do, or just trying something you’re not entirely sure will work.

We are each working on bold projects in our own homes, but also want to invite all of our readers to join in.

We will be hosting a link up to share your bold projects on February 24th!! We hope to see you there- with your BOLD project to share.

This amazing group of bloggers will be sharing their BE BOLD projects and then we can’t wait to see what you have to share with us as well!!

So go forth and BE BOLD.

  1. I absolutely LOVE this, Krista! I was just telling my husband the other day that I used to be bold….and I LOVED it…but lately the fear thing has been holding me back. I told him I was done with it so this perfectly fits in with my new goals…and I have a ton of them! Thanks so much for sharing at this weeks’ Project Inspire{d} ~ pinning! hugs, Mary Beth

  2. What a coincidence!! I Just now submitted a post on my blog about how 2014 will be “Mission: COLOUR”. After many years of “playing it safe” with fairly neutral palettes, I have now decided this year I am going to bring it up several notches with colour. I have so many plans and ideas but I started where we all start in a home…. the foyer. I painted a hall table Maxi Teal by SW and am so pumped! The winter weather must bring this on! Love your blog and we seem to be on the same wave-length with this one!

    1. Hi Joan! oooh Maxi Teal sounds like a gorgeous color- I would love to see that. I love using pops of color- I think it adds so much energy to a space!! I hope you share some of your bold projects at the link up on February 24th!
