Celebrating My One Year Blogiversary with Free Printables Quotes!

Free Printables Home Isn't Built in a Day Enjoy the Journey labeled at The Happy Housie

Hello everyone! Today I officially began my second year of blogging- I pushed publish for the first time on February 9th 2013 so The Happy Housie is now ONE YEAR OLD! I can hardly believe that it has been an entire year… and to celebrate I wanted to share some free printable quotes with you.

You may have noticed that I always end my posts with the quote “HOME isn’t built in a day. Enjoy the journey.”. This quote holds a lot of meaning for me. When we first were married I wanted to ‘finish’ our house right away… I wanted to buy everything and have it “done”. We made some decisions and choices that we shouldn’t have because we (read: I) felt some sort of imaginary pressure to have it all put together immediately. Once it was “done” I quickly realized that I already wanted to change things… and then change things some more. Over the years I have realized that creating a HOME that we love and that suits are family is actually a pretty fluid concept – instead of being ‘done’ our home keeps growing and evolving and adapting as our family grows and changes and develops. The process is really a journey and it is this journey that I wanted to chronicle and share through The Happy Housie. If you wonder why I called the blog this, check out my About page.

In the past year of blogging I have discovered that blogging is a journey much like creating a HOME is… you are always learning, changing, adapting, and growing. I laugh now (or, more realistically, hide in shame) at some of my earlier posts. I have thought about removing some of them. But they are there as a testament to the growth and change that I (and this blog) have gone through over the course of the past year. And we both have a long way to go.

This year ahead is about continuing to enjoy the journey while finding a balance between projects, the blog, and our REAL life. We have some big things planned: the boys’ shared bedroom, the family craft room space, and redoing THE KITCHEN (insert over-the-top excited squeals here). There will be many small projects and holiday projects along the way but I really want to FOCUS on getting some larger projects completed and sharing with you the in-between steps as we finish off these rooms.

The best thing about this year of blogging is the unexpected number of friendships I have formed with my amazing, loyal and fabulous readers as well as with the incredibly talented fellow bloggers that I am fortunate enough to now call friend. I also have to give a huge shout-out and thank you to my family and dear friends who have supported me and this ‘blogging thing’ over the last year – without all of this support I am sure I would not have made it through a whole year. If you are actually reading these words then you are probably one of these people – so I want to say THANK YOU for your support this year and I am looking forward to seeing what will come in the second year of The Happy Housie’s blog-life.

So, as promised, to celebrate ONE YEAR – I have some free printable quotes for you- these are formatted to an 8×10 size. Just click the image to be taken to a page where you can right click to copy and save the image to your computer’s hard drive then print them out at home or a copy center. This is my way of saying THANK YOU for being a reader, friend, and supporter during my first bloggy year!! THANK YOU!

  1. Congrats on your anniversary!! I can’t believe that you’ve only been blogging a year! You have such a seasoned blog. At my one year anniversary last year, I was teeny tiny! So, way to GO! And love the quote and the printables. It’s some of the advice I gave in a post I wrote to brides – don’t feel the need to fill up every space immediately. Let your home grow with you. And I know this from experience as well. I’ve almost completely gotten rid of so many things I bought when we first got married. Ah, to live and learn. 🙂 Congrats again, girl!

    1. Aw, Laura – thank you for your super kind comments. I have also gotten rid of so many things from when we were first married – I think it is a pretty common thing to do in our society- try to fill it all up and ‘finish’ it. We are so into instant gratification – I certainly battle with that!! I am so glad I found you and your blog during this year and look forward to more of your amazing ideas and projects in the year ahead:)

  4. Incredible post, Krista. Your blog is so young! If I didn’t know already, I would have guessed you’ve been doing it for years considering how great your content always is.
I know exactly what you mean about wanting to delete old posts haha! But you’re right, we all started somewhere, and we shouldn’t hide that because it’s essentially about sharing our own evolving processes. Lovely.
