Bright Summery Colour in our Master Bedroom

I will show you how adding bright summery colour in our master bedroom created instant personality.Pop of Colour in the Master Bedroom with new bedding at thehappyhousie.com-8

Is it just me, or is there something about summer that screams “colour”?!?

Maybe it is all the beautiful vibrant blooms you see around, or maybe the memories of beach trips and sunsets and country fairs with cotton candy; but somehow summer seems like the most drama filled colourful season.

Maybe it is just that all the fresh, bright, crisp sunlight makes all the bright colour seem natural – not heavy.

Either way, I love a few hits of fun, fresh, adventurous, eye-popping colour in the summer time. And a perfect way to add it is through some gorgeous new summer bedding and bring some of that bright summery colour into the Master Bedroom.

I ordered this pretty Ikat coverlet set from Wayfair recently, and was hoping that it would look good with our headboard fabric. When you have such a strong colour and fabric grounding your bed, you always have to be conscious of the bedding that you are  buying to work with it. But I couldn’t be happier with how this Ikat set works with the rest of the room. It seems to flow naturally with the rest of the contrasting colour in there…

I am loving my new wall art as well- I will share more about that tomorrow during my summer home tour.

A white and turquoise headboard beside a side table in the bedroom.

Here is where you get a little peek at my latest and greatest read.

I am, in fact, obsessed with the Outlander series right now and am on book 7. I really does take a long time to get through seven 1400 page novels, no matter what it is a half a year commitment, at least. But all worth it, let me tell you – in case you are in search of an amazing series to get onto.

White and gold geometric pillows, on the brightly coloured bedspread.

These gorgeous gold pillows, left over from our light and neutral Christmas scheme, are perfect in our bedroom with this new Ikat set… I love the way the gold ties in with so many other gold accents we have added in the room.

Bright bedspread, with two side tables beside the bed and small lamps on the tables.

A small gold mirror beside the bed above the side table.

The coral and gold chalky painted distressed nightstands work so well with a variety of colour accents. They are still one of my favourite pieces in our bedroom….

A light peach side table beside the bed.

Light blue/green clear glass lamps beside the bed.

Floor to ceiling board and batten is just about one of my very favourite accents ever – in fact, I am pretty sure that it will be making an appearance in our newest project: the rental house reno project makeover (take two).

Do you have any plans to add some bright, fresh, summery colour to your home?

What about bedding? I find it one of the easiest places to play with a mix of colour and pattern and texture. What about you?
