The Favourite 13 of 2013

The Happy Housie Favourite 13 of 2013

Wow.

2013 is over. Happy New Year Everyone! 2014 is upon us and I am super excited about the projects we plan to tackle this year -but more about that later. Today I want to share the favourite 13 projects/posts of 2013 – some of these I selected by popularity with readers and others I chose because I love them.

The images are the links- click on the image to see the post about that project.

Sewing/Craft Project

I counted two posts as one here because my two envelope pillow tutorials are neck-in-neck for the most viewed posts on my blog this year.

Room Revamp

Although not as popular in page views, the laundry room is really the only room that we managed to actually completely revamp last year….

Furniture Transformation

While I redid a few pieces of furniture this year, the one I think that I appreciate most (and that was transformed the most significantly) is our faux mantel cabinet…

DIY Project

Installing the board and batten in our entry hall made the biggest difference to that space – I love it now! I never did manage to get around to the actual tutorial for installing B&B though so stay tuned for that very soon (I promise!).

DIY Chalk Paint Project

I did a lot of projects this year with DIY Chalk Paint and it is really hard to chose a favourite but the one that has received the most views is our little Mellow Yellow Side Table….

Upcycling Project

I also redid quite a few lamps this year but my personal favourite is the thrift store gourd lamp that I sprayed out in fresh white…

Organizing Project

This fabric covered bulletin board that I whipped up for my friend’s daughter got a lot of attention from readers after being featured on Apartment Therapy this year…

DIY Sign

I made several wooden signs this year using both pallets and reclaimed wood but my personal favourite is the ombre pallet sign with wood reveal lettering that I made for our Master Bedroom….

Mantelscape

After we created our faux mantel cabinet I got to start doing different mantelscapes for the seasons (and times in between)… I think my favourite mantelscape in 2013 may have been our Back to School Mantel….

Halloween Project

Hands down my favourite Halloween project and possibly my favourite craft project of the year is my Black and White Hand Sketched Sharpie Pumpkins…

Christmas Project

Another of my favourite craft projects was our Christmas table centerpiece- the Yarn and Feather Christmas trees that I created using my DIY 10 Cent Christmas Tree Cones…

Wreath

My favourite wreath this year was our Burlap, Boughs, and Blades Winter Wreath- so much so that I think I will stretch it out into January…

House Tours

Two of our house tours were popular with readers this year- the Christmas Living/Dining Room tour as well as our Summer Home Tour…

What do you hope to DIY or revamp in 2014?

I can’t wait to share our plans for this year – there are some majors on the list as well as completing some of the rooms we began in 2013 that for whatever reason fell by the wayside. More coming soon!
